Gothenburg Basketball Festival, Sweden

 

The Gothenburg Basketball Festival is not just a tournament – it’s a basketball celebration! Since its inception in 1979, the festival has grown to become one of Europe’s largest youth basketball tournaments. Every year during Ascension weekend, thousands of players, coaches, and fans gather to fill Gothenburg with energy, joy, and basketball. The tournament is organized by Högsbo Basket together with several clubs throughout the Västra Götaland region.

Date: May 14–17 (Ascension weekend)
Number of teams: approx. 900
Participants: over 10,000 from 10–15 countries
Ages: 11–20 years + seniors 20+ & 40
Wheelchair basketball
Matches: approx. 2,200 on 42 courts
Referees: around 180 from 14 countries
Accommodation: 20 schools with classroom accommodation

MATCHES & FINALS

• Group matches: Thursday–Friday
• Playoffs & finals: Saturday–Sunday
• A finals: Sports Academy & Valhalla Sports Hall
• B finals: Gothia Arena & Lundbystrand, among others

 We guarantee at least 4 games per team. Game time is 2 periods of 15 minutes each, except for the 2 last minutes in the second half, when the clock stops as normal. Easy Basket (EB) is played by the SBBF (Swedish Basketball Federation) rules. You can find more info about EB in Tournament Rules .

B40+/G40+ (born in 1986 and earlier)

20+/G20+ (born 2006 and older)

B19/G19 (born 2007 and later)

B17/G17 (born 2009 and later)

B16/G16 / born 2010 and later)

B15/G15 (born 2011 and later)

B14/G14 (born 2012 and later)

B13/G13 (born 2013 and later)

EB B12/G12 (born 2014) play group games and playoffs

EB B11/G11 (born 2015) play group games and playoffs

"Pacers" Mumbai organised Bishop Cotton Girls Basketball team from Bangalore to participate in the International Youth Basketball Festival at Gothenburg,Sweden from 4th to 9th May 2016.

 

'Pacers" turnkey arrangements from flight reservations, Visa, accommodation,transport,sightseeing and match schedule were excellent.My players were benefited,enjoyed and had an all-round exposure during the trip. As Coach of Bishop Cotton Girls Basketball team I appreciate and wish "Pacers" Mumbai as they promote sports through International Friendship Games.
